Soft cervix?

Last week at my doc appt I was 36 weeks. My doc said that my cervix was soft but I wasnt dilated. And she could also feel babies head and said he was very low. Sooo what exactly does a soft cervix mean but no dilation?

I believe it’s the start! Once cervix is softened you should start dilating! I could be wrong but effacing is more beneficial then dilating. Dilating is great too, but I know the thinning out part gives you more hope to go into labor! But like i said I’m not a dr lol

Efacement is super important!!! Thats what a soft cervix means :) it's definitely coming along :)
