Baby Boy is an October Baby

🦄🧜

Don't want to scare FTM or any other mother here.

I deliver my precious baby boy on Oct 22 at 7:21 pm. He came put 6lbs and 13 oz. I was 37 weeks exact when I deliver him via C-section.

When I finallt got some skin to skin with him in recovery. I notice his breathing was heavy and weird. I notice his sternum was kind of up. Then I notice his hands and feet where a little purple then normal. I brought up to the nurse that received me that night. She said that was normal  for babies to have purple hands and feet since the blood circulation goes to important parts in body should get better by the next day.

The nurse took over in the morning. Brought up the same thing about the sternum, breathing and his feet. She it looks fine. The nursing assistant took him a bath and check his temperature and was low. Nurse came in and brought it up. She got low temperature and kind discarded it said he would get better. Put shirt on him that was warm. Double swaddle him and put a warm put blanket on him that was warm. Put 2 hats. Said she I check his temperature again in a bit. Before she did that she took his blood sugar which was 34 then rechecked again in a couple seconds and it was 45. They were checking his sugar cause I had diabetes. She came back and his temperature still was going up.  His breathing was still the same. Sternum still up. Feet and hands still purple. The nurse did nothing her whole shift. Sugar was check twice every time she check it 1st time in the 30's and 2nd reading in the 40's. No oxygen check was done.

We also mentioned that he was very sleepy and wasn't eating well. Felt like we had to force to eat. When he at it was 20ml to 30 ml. She kept saying feed him every 3hrs cause she need the blood sugar. I felt she just need the blood sugar and didn't care about my concerns.

Finally the new NOC came in took care of me. Then check on the baby. She notice what I been noticing. She did her 24 hr check and hooked to the oxygen. It was in 50's and 60's. She got another nurse to double check. Baby was rush to NICU right away. All those concerns I had about his breathing, his sternum and his hands and feet. Was because he was having trouble breathing. His lungs where not working right. Thank you that night nurse, so bless she took me serious. That night he was place on a mask to help regulate his breathing.

Saturday they incubated him to put medicine to help his lungs expand. Which work miracles for him. By Sunday night he was taken off the mask and put on a regular oxygen tube. Was still doing great on oxygen. His oxygen was in the high 90's.

Today he had the oxygen removed but still getting tube feeding. We do not what cause his lungs to do this. Doctor might think was he probably swallow so fluid while coming out the womb.
