Help please. My 11 month old baby was chewing on a lead pencil. Is it poisoning? Or dangerous? Has anyone gone through this with their baby?

My 11 month old son was chewing on a pencil for a couple of seconds without me noticing while being held with my grandmother. Does this lead pencil contain lead? Has anyone gone through this? I feel so terrible for this. Is this concerning to take him to the doctor?

I'm pretty sure pencils are made with graphite now not lead. Should be fine. I can't even tell you how many pencils my idiot brother ate going all the way up til freshman year. It's not a big deal

That's a graphite pencil. Baby should be fine.

According to google “lead” pencils actually are made of graphite and clay. But babies should be lead tested at age 1 & 2 (at least in my state). So talk to the pediatrician about lead testing at her 1 year check 🙂
