Best way to wean my baby off the breast?

Hi mamas. Need some advice. I'm still breastfeeding my 16 month old, and loving every moment. I need to stop soon though as I'm on my second trimester with my second and I'm so paranoid about him kicking me at night. He's been on solids since 6 months so he's totally fine to get off the breast. What's the best way? And how does it work for my boob? If I'm not feeding or pumping won't my breast fill with milk and feel like they want to explode?

For me I reduced her feedings. So instead of throughout the day I only did when I came home from work and night feedings, then down just to nightly feedings then every other day etc. It took me about 4 months to do that and for her to be done. I introduced a “Baba” (bottle) to her at night and she took to it really well. She still is very very attached to my breast but no longer breastfeeds. For me to help with engorging, I didn’t pump either so I would use cabbage leave and have to release on my own. The easiest way it worked for me was to take a cabbage bath and release milk and even taking Sudafed will help to stop your production. I would read up on it to see if that’s something you’re interested in.

I gradually stopped so that my boobs would adjust easier. I dropped one feed every 7-10 days so my body would adjust before stopping the next feed. I never had any issues with them getting engorged from missing feeds or anything.
