Will Xanax keep me from bawling?

I’m about to go to my brother in laws funeral and I’m not feeling necessarily anxious but I’m an overly emotional person and I will blabber like an absolute idiot for the 5 hour visitation I’m not even over exaggerating. I need to be strong for my husband. I do have a Xanax prescription for as needed. Take before or will it make it worse?
