Extremely frustrated with GD diet
None of this makes sense. I was diagnosed on October 13th at 29 weeks. It's now only November 2nd at almost 32 weeks and I was having good meal numbers-occassional spike here or there-and only dealing with barely high fasting numbers (95-98). Ever since I started this GD diet my dietitian gave me, my meal numbers are all over the place. I'm normal one day and spiking the next with meals that I've eaten just days ago. I had a ham & cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread on 10/24 and was 109. Had the exact same thing today and even added lettuce-154. WTF! My bedtime snack has been the same for a week just slightly tweaking bc I can't eat the same thing every single day-1/4c Chobani greek yogurt, 2 strawberries, small handful of rolled oats-84 fasting. Same exact thing except added a small pinch of flax seeds-97. 🤬 I had a really healthy well-balanced breakfast with scrambled eggs with cheese and spinach, 1 dry whole wheat toast, 2 strawberries, 2 vegan sausages, drank 3 glasses of water, and walked for 10 minutes after-159. Then had a slice of pizza, napped the next meal-109. 🤯🤷♀️
This diet is completely illogical. I can't recreate the spikes with a specific food bc one day I'm fine with it and the next I'm suddenly not. I'm wasting so much food in the house bc I don't know what the hell to eat anymore. Eggs? Hit or miss. Bread? Hit or miss. Fruit? Hit or miss. Things on the GD diet don't fucking work for me! I already have IBS-C and GERD so have been on those diets for nearly 10 years. Some of the foods the dietitian has on the paperwork I can't eat or it'll cause a flare. I'm becoming more and more limited what I can eat. She has it recommended for me 45g carbs for meals and 30g carbs for snacks. I'm obsessing over reading labels, calculating carbs, staring at shit thinking "is this a carb or a protein?" "Is this going to spike me, it didn't before. I should be safe, right? WRONG." Eating has become a depressing chore.
