Medical Marijuana and drug testing

Soo for starters I am NOT pregnant (I’ve seen too many posts go left for not stating so😅)

Anyways, I have a medical marijuana card. I used to work at a government job before I obtained my medical card BUT it was also during January when covid happened so I was also out of work too.

Well.. they want me to come back (I desperately want to go back too) but does state laws apply? Or will they be going by federal law due to it being a government security job..? I have a drug test coming up this week and I’m honestly scared they’re going to fire me or not rehire me.

I stopped smoking yesterday but I can’t help but beat myself up about this. Should I continue to stop? Or do the state/federal laws apply?

Sorry I’m all over the place just want to know my rights, laws, and if I should just take a break to pass the drug test instead ...

PLEASE NO RUDE COMMENTS OR JUDGEMENTS. I’m just a young woman with PTSD trying to survive and make a living.

Update: thanks for the ‘Advice?’ I hear what you’re saying about “laws vs company policy” but a law is a law. Please stop confusing the both. A policy and a law are very much two different things. As a medical user, it is ILLEGAL in MY state for them to discriminate or not hire you. Please look into the shit before you comment. I’m sure if I asked about pills you’d all condone it with great advice lmaooo.
