I've been dating this gug for 8 months. We are both 17 and I really like him, but my parents hate him. My parents make a lot of money. We've always been upper class. My boyfriend is what they consider "poor". He works as a waiter at a Cafe to help his dad and provide for his siblings. My parents are paying for my college, while my bf isn't going because he can't afford it. My parents say he will just use me and that his family are bums for being on government assistance. He has never asked me for a penny though. We don't really go out for dates because he can't afford it, but he will make a picnic, set up a tent with a movie or something like that. He always puts so much effort into everything he does. He says he loves me and wants to marry me and promises to save for the best ring he can get me. I told him money isn't an issue for me. I don't judge him by how much money he makes. He's already embarrassed because his apartments are considered "the ghetto". I wish my parents could see in him what I see.
