Cousin might take our name?

Rachel

I confess I was slightly disappointed when the week after our positive test my husband’s cousin’s gf posted about their pregnancy, with a due date 3 weeks ahead of ours. I got over it and was having fun discussing baby stuff with her. But yesterday my husband’s grandma said that they were planning on naming their baby after my husband’s late father. We were also planning on doing that. Same last name, and a very uncommon one at that.

Am I wrong to want to keep my husband’s dad’s name for us? Neither of them knew my husband’s dad. Also wondering if the grandma is potstirring.

Update: husband called his cousin and just told him what we would name our son. Didn’t tell him to not use the name, and I support that. Must have been a good call, because I heard lots of laughing. Feeling more positive and I appreciate you all.

Update 2: Cousin had their baby today. They named him husband’s dad’s name. We are devastated, but what’s done is done. We don’t seem them often, and now won’t at all, so we will still go ahead with naming our baby for my husband’s dad.
