Toddler beds???

Question

At which age did you switch and why? Was it easy? Did your little one wander?

We switched at 2. She didn’t wander but we just made sure we put her to bed very tired so she wouldn’t want to get up and play, and then of course made sure everything was safe in case she did.

We switched to a regular twin when my LO was 2.5 years old. He switched because he is a big kid and looked like he was getting squished. He never tried to climb out so we tried to stretch it out as long as possible. It was just time. He did get out of his bed and wander the first few nights but we got him the gro clock and that worked wonders for him.

We switched to the daybed version of his crib a little after 2. He was able to climb the crib but would fall off once he got over the top. We have taken everything out of his room that he shouldn’t be messing with. Sometimes he will get up at first but he will piddle around for a few minutes and put himself back to bed. A lot of the time he doesn’t get up at all though. He also sleeps with a lullabrites which seems to help him.

My daughter wanted to sleep in her toddler bed when she got it for her second birthday, so of course we made the transition. She would get up and play/terrorize her room (pull clothes from drawers etc. We removed anything that could be broken or unsafe) for about 30 minutes and then go to bed on her own. We still had the crib up since I was unsure how it would go with the toddler bed. She slept in it for about 2 months and then wanted to sleep in her crib again for some reason! She can't climb out of it yet, so I had no problem with it. Shes back in the crib but both beds are still in her room for her to choose. We had a baby gate up at her door when she sleeps in the toddler bed because her room is upstairs. So she always stayed in the room without complaint
