From cot to bed?

Hi everyone,
Just had a random thought come into my head. When do you decide to move your child from a cot to a bed? We are no where near it yet but I assume it’s a when you know you’ll know kind of situation?

We started at 6 months, during nap time it didn’t take good but after a few times we would let her cry for a while then get her out, it took about a week to get her to sleep good in her crib and now she sleeps in there at nap times and at night with no problem.

My girl is almost two (in January) and she's still in her crib. She hasn't figured out how to climb out. She doesn't really seem interested in that. I planned to ask her doctor at her two year appointment

My son climbed out of his crib at 22 months. I wish we could have kept him in there longer though. Now he sleeps with us and I get very little sleep!
