Shaving down there tips

I’m looking to find tips for shaving my vagina. Recently on tiktok they say it’s good to exfoliate which I never do, and I feel that I’m seeing the results because I get so many bumps and I never have a smooth shave, and I get dark dots or ingrown hairs. I’m wondering if anyone who exfoliates before shaving actually has a smooth shave? Also what do i use to shave? I only use soap on the mound, but for the lips i just use water. What can i use that won’t give me a bad reaction or infection? Also I heard it’s good to moisturize down there after shaving too. What can I use though that won’t give me an infection?
