Anyone have bipolar 2??

I’ve always known there was something wrong with me, I just didn’t know what. I was recently diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder and I’m feeling defeated and ashamed of my disorder. Anyone else diagnosed with bipolar 2? Any advice? Anything helps 😞

Don’t feel ashamed of your disorder. I genuinely believe that my diagnosis was what helped me come to terms with mine. I’d been treated for anxiety and depression for so long with anxiety medicine and antidepressants. They were supposed to help, but instead, they made me feel awful. After being diagnosed bipolar type 2, my doctors switched my medicine and added a stabilizer, which helped tremendously. I realized that I wasn’t crazy. I feel so much better now, even with my bad days.

Hi sorry i’m so late to this post. I was misdiagnosed for years with depression. I always thought my adhd was the cause for my random cycles of hyper ness, lack of sleep, rushing ideas etc. i was placed on antidepressants after a bad depressive episode and it caused me to have a hypomanic episode. my psychiatrist realized i was misdiagnosed and i have bipolar 2 disorder. i didn’t know if you take antidepressants with bipolar2 it will make you have a hypomanic episode. my family history with bipolar solidified her diagnosis. i understand how nerve racking this diagnosis could be. i’m new to this too. this is normal there’s nothing to be ashamed of. people aren’t ashamed when theres a physical problem wrong with them so why be ashamed for a mental problem. i’m currently on a new medication (abilify) so far so good. trying to find right dosage to stop my cycles. best of luck to you. if you ever need to talk about it message me :)
