Is bonus mom an offensive term for step moms?

I’ve always thought it endearing. But curious. My sons (14mos) dad just got engaged to his gf (their relationship apparently overlapped ours so they’ve been together two years in the new year) and she has a “dog mom” sticker on her car so I was thinking to get a bonus mom one to add whenever they get married but I was thinking maybe some might be offended by that?

I think it's really sweet that you want to include her in that way. If you're concerned, are you in for enough terms with your ex that you did ask him?

I’m not a step mom so can’t really say,  but personally I’d be relieved the bio mom was cool with me and included me at all. I think it’s a sweet gesture to give her a “bonus mom” title and welcome her with no dramatics! 😊

I think the gesture is nice and should be accepted as a nice gesture no matter how she feels about the actual words.

Can I just say I'm proud of you. The amount of moms that do everything possible to be in a constant fight with their kids other mom is crazy. Its nice to see someone who isn't even though you seem to have more reason than most to be mad. I love it. I think it is a very sweet thing to do.

I haven’t really heard it for a step parent but guess it’d be nice. We use it here for in laws.
