Allowance for stay at housewives and mothers?

Stay at home (childless) wives and mothers, does your husband give you a monthly allowance besides taking care of the monthly bills? Do you enjoy staying at home or do you ever get bored and miss your career? Of course maintains the house is a job in itself, but do you have hobbies? I’m trying to see what the norm is because I’m considering being a housewife and I will take a hiatus from my career once I have children but I think my husband will have to give me at least £1000 (I live in England) a month besides him taking care of the bills. I worked very hard for my education and career and I’m paid very well. So if I’m going to give it up to raise his kids, I’ll need at least a quarter of my monthly salary to maintain my lifestyle.
