Age opinions??

Hey guys me and my boyfriend are thinking about starting our family however we've recieved a lot of criticism from people we've told.... what age is too young in your opinion?

If you both have graduated high school then anything 18 and older is fine. I don’t judge those ages because I had my oldest a few weeks prior to my 19th birthday.

If you are under 25 just finish your education and buy a house Then you can start having your own family because everything and wait. Once you start having a family it is hard for you to go to school, work and taking care of your family it’s too much.

How old are you? I’m 22 turning 23 in 2 months. I’m married, we have a beautiful home, and I will be down with school very soon. We are currently TTC.

I don’t think there’s an age that makes it okay, it’s more about mental and financial stability. I’m 20 and pregnant with my second, which may seem really young. However, my husband and I have owned our home for three years, we each have new and reliable vehicles, and stable jobs. We are more stable than my 27 year old sister. So age isn’t the issue.

I honestly think around 25/26 is the best option, give or take a few years. You can be financially ready, but there’s so much more that goes into having children. Getting through your early 20’s gives you time to develop your relationship, your communication skills, to enjoy your own hobbies and nurture yourself to becoming who you are, gives you time to develop a stable income and bill pay history that isn’t new, you still have tons of energy and life to live with your child, but got to express that energy for yourself for a while, and you’ll have thought about children long enough to be absolutely certain you are ready. I think a lot of people also develop understanding, empathy, and patience in the early adulthood that teenagers just haven’t harnessed yet. I know I’m going to get flack for this, because a lot of young parents feel attacked by this opinion or want to prove they are good parents by using their example as evidence, but it’s not intended to harm. I’ve personally never met someone who’s had kids young who didn’t wish they had waited a little longer (not that those people don’t exist).

I had my first (and only) at 25. I wish I would have waited just a little bit longer, but I also live far away from family and friends so it’s just myself and my husband. Parenting is probably a lot easier when you have help.

I wouldn’t say age matters, if you’re financially and emotionally stable, and both want children, go for it! I know someone else said buy a house first (?) as if that’s a goal for everyone 😂 We own our home but we also live in the Midwest, and it’s feasible to own a larger home here, with yard space. You definitely don’t need to own a home to have children, millions of people live in apartments in thousands of areas, and they’re perfectly fine!

Personally she isn’t everything but I would recommend 23. I would say personally for me that was good because I got to experience my youth, be stable in my career and learn life lessons without the responsibility for others.
