Car insurance

So I just bought a car and my boyfriend wanted the car to be in mine and his name, his mother says it would be cheaper for the insurance, I went to the dmv and the lady told me that it would be better to get the tag and title in my name, because if I add him and he wanted to keep the car he could take it without my permission, or if we were both in the title we would both have to sign off on it in case we decided to sell, she pretty much said that people could be together for 10 plus years and still decide they wanna take the car or whatever. Well I went ahead and got my own tag and my name on the title. And my boyfriends mom gets upset and says that the car insurance is gonna be higher and that I screwed myself. Than my boyfriend screams at me and lectures me the whole way home about how he has to always hold my hand and that I can’t do anything for myself because I didn’t listen to him and add his name to the title and just use his tag instead .

Edit- I own the car outright, I payed cash out of my pocket
