Our new cat is attacking the dog 🐶
Long story short we rescued two Persian/British short hair cats 5 weeks ago. Our male cat (halo 11month) is totally fine with our dog (Alfie 10) but our female cat (maili 2) will occasionally swipe Alfie or hiss at him, once or twice a week. They sleep/eat and stay in different rooms of the house when we are not supervising them.
Every time she hisses at him or tries to swat him...he just keeps walking towards her or will sit down and just look at her, he won’t move himself away, two weeks ago she swiped him and gave him a tiny cut on his nose so he knows he’ll get hurt but he still does it...
The past week they have been really good, they’ve been laying on the same bed if I’m with them and they’ll just wonder past each other at slight distance. Alfie is a very hyperactive dog and he tends to get very excited and run about the house and I think maili gets a bit overwhelmed. Especially on the stairs, if maili is laying on or sitting there which she tends to do a lot of the time and Alfie runs up or down she will hiss. We try do to keep him as calm as we possibly can.
He’s a super jealous dog when it comes to my S/O and I can’t help but think maybe he’s doing this on purpose? I know that sounds odd but it’s just very strange that he just walks towards an animal when they could cause him a lot of pain? He’s also Been COMPLETELY ignoring any commands we give him. If we tell him to come if he is getting to close to maili or he’s running downstairs to where she may be or out of the room we are in, he just stops, looks back and carry’s on running out the room.
I should also mentioned they’re mother and baby
My question is how do we stop Alfie from running up to maili if she’s feeling threatened or trying to swat him? I

Alfie
Halo is in the middle
Maili is on the end
