I lost weight before TTC. I was at my heaviest I’ve ever been, more than what I weighed 40 weeks with my son. I got pregnant last year by accident and I ended up having a miscarriage. I said I was going to lose some weight before we actually tried again. I lost 30 lbs and conceived the first time, although my first pregnancy was also the first month, and then we had a slip up when I got pregnant the second time. I’ve never had problems getting pregnant but I didn’t feel healthy enough at the weight I was at. A lot of people told me, why bother, just lose it after, but I was worried about health problems, diabetes and high blood pressure, which I’ve never had an issue with, just worried me that it could become a problem.

Losing weight prior to pregnancy can increase your chances and decrease your complication risk. Losing weight once you’re pregnant is not recommended. Good luck on both your weight loss and TTC journey!
