I got my 13th week scan done... It says the placenta - posterior partially covering the internal os. What do you guys think? My doc appointment is on 10th of December.

Hey! Me too!! I found out in the ER due to bleeding. They put me on pelvic rest so no heavy lifting and no sex. They do this to ensure that the placenta isn’t disturbed because it can cause heavy bleeding and other complications. My doctor said 90% of the time as your uterus stretched the placenta will move away from the cervix. It’s very common two of my aunts had the same issue.

I have partial placenta praevia as well and was put on pelvic rest by my OB. He did mention this tends to be more common in early pregnancy and then the placenta will settle in a better position as pregnancy progresses. I have my next appointment on the 8th of December and hoping things moved enough for me to be off pelvic rest. Keeping fingers crossed for you as well!

Answer

It’s called partial placenta previa. From my understanding, as the uterus grows, it may move up enough that it’s not a concern. If it does not, it would mean a csection, and possibly pelvic rest as you’d be at an increased risk of bleeding.  I’ve never had it so I don’t have much details but you can look it up or search partial previa in the app! Hope you find the information your looking for
