Should i still take the medicine?

So my friend gave me her bottle of metformin to take (to help with my pcos) , and I’ve been so scared to take them since i wasn’t prescribed them. I was supposed to take them today but before i did i was reading up on it and they said that the FDA now says to not take metformin because the high cases of it causing heart failure... what should i do? Should i take it or no?

Only take what you are prescribed. Metformin is primarily used for sugar with diabetes type 2. You don’t want your sugar to drop low as it could be dangerous. Better off making an appt and ask about Metformin as a treatment option, this way your labs can be monitored.

Since it’s such a important medication I would call your doctor before taking it till then I would wait on taking it
