Worried about labour?

First time mom here, almost 23 weeks.... thinking about labour scares the hell out of me. I know I will do an epidural because I don’t take pain well at all, does epidural hurt as much as I think it will ? lol. Can you mamas share some insight with me 🥺

With my 1st I had the epidural super well placed. Had 3 dosages! Lol
I was moving around like nothing happened right after birth. Never had any side effects from it (like back pain or headaches) and will do it again with my 2nd.
What I recommend is don't overthink about birth. Go there prepared for the worse (like ending on a c-section) but be calm and expect only the best! What matters is that at the end of it both you and baby will be fine...

If you’re anything like me I didn’t even feel the epidural being done because my contractions hurt so bad 😂 what a relief it was though!

My epidural hurt beyond words as he got a nerve ending. It also did NOT work. My right thigh (hip to knee) was the only thing numb. I spent 12 hours in labor pain with that one bum leg making any position nearly impossible. I effing hated it. Resulted 8n emergency c section when baby got stuck and went into distress. I had to be knocked out. Missed the first 9 hours of her life. I was in so much pain morphine didnt help. Had back pain at injection site for months.
Second kid I got a spinal block. No pain, all numb and happy. Wore off quick after c section and I was up and about in 12 hours. Huge difference.
This baby I'm 100% spinal block again.
(Our hospital does not allow vbac and I dint want one)

Had an epi towards the last 2 hours of birth. They missed at first, then they put it in. It felt like a sting but not as bad as the contractions. It didn’t take well. I could feel everything still. Because I had an epi, it was hard for me to push because I couldn’t feel my muscles contracting down there. That being said, I won’t get one next time. It caused too many complications.

I had the same fears about labor. I had to be induced, so my induction started with a cook catheter and then pitocin. Pitocin got rough as hell, and I ended up getting an epidural at 2-3 cm. I never felt them do it. I was sitting still waiting and asked if they were about to do it and they had already done it. It numbed me for a good 3 hours, and then stopped working, even after 3 extra doses. I went from a 5 to a 10 in 2 hours so I assume that's why it stopped working. 
By the time you ask for an epidural, it'll be nothing compared to what made you ask!

Same here! FTM and labour scares the shit out of me
I’m hoping to get an epidural as soon as I’m in the hospital !! 
But I’m also worried what if my labour is really fast and I don’t get a chance to have one🙈🙈 My mum has all three of us within 3 hours.. and I’m so regular in my cycle, fell pregnant straight away and had an easy pregnancy just like her. I’m hoping I don’t get the fast labour from her too because I really want the epidural 😅

My epidural worked perfectly. It only feels like a small bee sting, if you’ve ever been stung by a bee. 
The pain during labor and while I was pushing was only a dull ache and I could still feel my baby and could tell how much to push!

I had an epidural with my first. I honestly don't remember it being painful at all. That being said my epidural didn't work (it only numbed my left leg).

I was nervous to. I knew I wanted an epidural. I got one. You start to get so uncomfortable it’s worth a little sting for the relief. 
You have so much adrenaline for birth it will carry you through. It’s amazing what happens.

Loved my epidural with my first two. Had some blood pressure dips after but responded well to IV medicine. After that labor was a breeze and painless for me. The actual placement of the epidural is not bad at all. When they inject the numbing medicine (lidocaine) it can sting a little. But after that there is no pain - just feels a bit funny. It will be ok!
