What to do when water breaks ?

I’m 28 weeks so not in labor or anything but I like to be prepared than clueless, if your water breaks do you have to go to the hospital ASAP or do you still have to wait until your contractions are a certain amount apart ?

So below 35 weeks always go straight to the drs. 35 + you can give labor and delivery a call and give them a heads up your waters broke and you can take your time, unless your cord is prolapse g and you need to go asap.

Go to the hospital ASAP. You have a window after it breaks and after that window there’s a higher risk for infection. Thatswhat they told me with my son, I think it was like 17 hours but I had him 14hrs into labor

You can go right away the second time my water broke I wanted to go to the hospital. With this pregnancy it will be the same I want to labor some at home

I was told to go in straight away to get checked for infection etc, they then will decide if your okay to go home and wait for labour/contractions or induce you.

No you don’t have to wait. Water breaking takes precedence over timing of contractions.
If your water breaks inform the doctor right away, and they will advise you from there.
My waters leaked and the doctor said to go ahead and grab my hospital bag and come on in.

I called my doctor they said I didn’t have to sprint out the door and I could get my bag packed and stuff but it’s not a situation where you can wait it out at home

My water broke with my first. You just need to call l&d and then take your time 😊 take a shower, eat a meal, pack your bags, do last minute cleaning, etc. No need to rush to the hospital unless contractions are really close together.

You do have some time, so you are not in a crazy hurry. But still go to hospital asap. If water are brobek then there is a certain time line when baby sull needs to get out, to avoid infections even if the contractions might not have started.
