January Baby —> December Baby

Ka

I haven’t had my little boy just yet, but it will be no later than 37 weeks. Today, I am 35w2d. During my 33rd week at a routine OB visit, I had a high BP reading (150/90ish), but we waited 15 minutes and it came back down to 130/80ish. My doctor had been called out to a delivery so I was given the option to stay and wait for her or to go home and come back another day. Honestly, I stayed because the room was quiet and I was so exhausted that I just wanted to nap on the table. Ha. Well, it’s good that I stayed because she listened to my baby’s heart rate when she returned, and it was high. So I was sent to the hospital for preeclampsia triage. That was on a Wednesday. They went ahead and gave me one dose of the steroid shot to help his lungs develop sooner, and sent me home with a diagnosis of “borderline but not quite yet preeclampsia”. I returned to the hospital the next day for the 2nd and final steroid shot for his lung develop. Friday during my work day, my BP was staying high, but not hospitalization high. I was told to go in if it hit 160/100. I was hitting around 150/90 again. And then my feet and hands started swelling rapidly and I started seeing floaters in my vision. Those were other hospitalization factors, so back to the hospital I went. I live in a small town where our hospital does not have a NICU, so after 5 hours of monitoring with my BP increasing steadily, I was finally transported to a larger hospital in a nearby city. I stayed there until I was almost 35 weeks because my local hospital does not deliver babies before 35 weeks without the high possibility of transferring the babies back to that city for a stay in the NICU. Now I am 35w2d, and home on bedrest, just trying to keep my BP down and keep this little boy inside as long as possible. But even if they let me go to 37 weeks, that’s still mid December so I guess I’m out of the January group!
