First prenatal visit at 12weeks?

Based off of my last period date I'm just about 5weeks pregnant.

I called a birthing center about prenatal and birthing options. (I've honestly never wanted to give birth in a hospital if possible) They dont do the first prenatal visit until 12 weeks, then monthly until 28weeks, then every 2 weeks until 36weeks then weekly until birth.

Is the first visit at 12 weeks normal? I've always thought visits started earlier.

This will be my first pregnancy so I dont know what to expect and when.
