Metronidazole for BV?

I’ve had some diarrhea and nausea which I know is part of the side effects. 
They prescribed me the 500mg pills twice a day for seven days. 
Did this really clear BV for you? And did it last?

Main treatment for this. It’s possible to get it again, as this can be caused by the PH in the vagina getting off. Too many baths, tight nonbreathable underwear, getting soap inside the vagina while washing, are some of the simple causes. But it def will clear it up under normal circumstances. I have taken a longer treatment once, bc I felt that I still had mild lingering symptoms and wanted to be sure it cleared up. And it did. Just be careful about the environment “down there” to help prevent it. Ive seen some foods and probiotics can help too. Hope side effects get better for you. If it gets too bad, call your doc.

Once you have BV, it’s more likely that you’ll get it again. You can keep it away by taking the full round of antibiotics, taking a probiotic, using unscented soap on the outside only, and wearing cotton undies. If you get it again, request the gel type, it’s the same medication but it is a gel that you insert into your vagina at night. It’s much easier on the stomach. If the nausea is too bad, talk to your doctor, she may be able to prescribe something to get you through.
