Low sperm count - IVF vs keep on trying?

Hi everyone- So I’m on the fence about starting the IVF journey - mainly as I feel like women tend try for a lot longer before going for IVF.
I’m 35, my partner has low count 4million, 20% motility & 5% morphology. 
We have been trying for 8 months and I have made an appointment to discuss starting the IVF process. 
I guess my question is with these numbers what are your opinions.. am I rushing to IVF to quickly or are our chances low enough without it to justify starting asap.

Do not get talked into IUI, whatever you do. Some doctors won’t even give you the option below 5 million (which is how it should be). At your count, you’re looking at about a 5-7% chance of success. Your chance of naturally conceiving would be even lower. 
At your age, egg quality begins to drop rapidly, so I don’t think you’re rushing into IVF. If you have the ability, absolutely do it now so they can store as many good eggs as possible.

At 35 I'd move to IVF (in fact I DID move to IVF at 35).
You could keep trying and you might get lucky, but a really important thing to consider: you need to plan for the age you want to be having your *last* baby, not your first. I don't know how many kids you're hoping to have but if it takes you another year to naturally conceive number 1, you'll be 37ish by the time you start trying for number 2.

My husband has 1-5mill post wash each sample and we wish we had skipped IUI. We wish we had been able to skip trying naturally and do IVF from the jump. 
Someone mentioned testing at a different clinic, but a specialist should do at least 2 samples to confirm low counts, sometimes 3.

I don’t think it’s too early. Your age warrants moving quickly, especially if you want more than one child. We wasted a full year trying Clomid to increase my husband’s counts, then attempting IUIs, all the while I just got even older. I wish we had jumped straight to IVF because it worked right away!

Go straight to ivf if you can. Not only his count is low but his motility is half what it minimally should be. It might take you years trying and after 35 your eggs quality starts to go downhill real fast. Also number of eggs you get at all number that mature and fertilize. Egg does 80 percent of the work load. Do not waste time. I went tbrough 3 losses last year and half probably  due to older eggs being 38 and 39. I am beyond traumatized and exhausted of treatments. You do not want to go through this. After 35 even 6 months are way too many to try. Battling male infertility and loss is hardest thing I had to go through and I still into the battle gearing up for third ivf icsi but kinda feeling hopeless and defeated.

I agree with Vino. My husband has low sperm count and motility - we haven’t been preventing since we were married (8years). Started trying 5 years ago and began the initial IVF process two years ago. We didn’t actually begin IVF until this past month. I really wish we would have just done it two years ago, but even after the consult and several appointments/tests later, we decided to try a couple more things. Obviously we weren’t successful trying on our own. 
I don’t think you’d be rushing it at all and would definitely suggest at least starting the initial consultation. You’ll have to have some tests done prior to beginning IVF anyway. If you feel after meeting you don’t want to proceed forward at that time, you don’t have to. 
It’s ultimately your choice! Just make sure you decide what’s best for you two. That’s all that matters in the end.

Honestly, my husband and I been “trying” for one month when I had a sense that something was wrong (I had been spotting for 60+ days) my ob diagnosed me with pcos and gave me the option of going to an RE or trying treatment with them.  I went to an RE.  They ran all the tests and turns out my husband also has low sperm count, so double whammy.  From when we started trying to our successful ivf transfer was a total of 9 months.  I think that if you know you have an issue there is no reason to wait.  Ivf is amazing.  It gave me my wonderful daughter and now I’m 11w4d with our second frozen embryo.  Best of luck.

Only speaking from personal experience but maybe ask your partner to get checked again at a different clinic. My partner was told he had zero sperm count and we fell pregnant within a year naturally. I suspect my partner TMI *had a wank* too close to having the test done and that gave the result. 
Just a suggestion.
