When did you start potty training?

At what age did you start potty training your little one and what triggered you to start then?
My some is turning 2 years old next month, but he isn’t very verbal to the extent of telling us he went pee or poo yet. I always thought that would be a good time to start but I hear mixed things.

We first tried around 2 because that’s what it felt like everyone said we needed to do. It did not go well, he wanted absolutely nothing to do with the potty. So we decided to wait for him. He was ready at 3.5, he took his diaper off on his own one morning and sat on the potty and peed. We stopped diapers right then and there and didn’t look back. Of course plenty of people try to make me feel bad for waiting until he was 3.5 but my pediatrician said it was perfectly normal, and I appreciated how easy it was because he was totally verbal and totally capable of pulling his own pants up and down so he was totally independent in the process he literally only needed me to say “good job.”

We started at 2 because I noticed she would start to hide when going pee or poo in her diaper so that told me she understood what was happening. It took us one weekend of just full attention towards potty training and we’ve never looked back.

The first time we tried with our daughter, she was around 2. She wasn’t ready (although she did enjoy peeing 3 drops every 5 minutes in order to get a sticker). We waited until she was around 3, and literally just told her “okay you’re going to pee on the big toilet now because you’re too big for Pull-Ups” and she was like “okay”, and then did. She only had a handful of accidents at night when she had too much to drink before bed. We did the same thing with her pacifier. She was around 2.5 and we explained pacifiers are for babies and little kids and she didn’t need it anymore, and she handed it over and it was never spoken of again. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Honestly there’s way too much pressure on getting your kids to reach these arbitrary “milestones”. Just wait until they’re ready and slowly get them used to the idea in the meantime. There’s a cute Elmo video about the potty.

I tried to potty train my son a bunch of times, and we failed sooo many times. He was 2.5 when he started playing in his dirty diapers and that was the last straw, we potty trained in a couple of days 🤦🏻‍♀️

About a month after she turned two. She might’ve been ready before that, but we hadn’t really buckled down and tried it. Once we got locked down from the pandemic, we went for it and were successful! 
She was on track verbally and a little ahead physically. She was starting to tell us things like “My peed” or “poopy” and her diapers were staying dry for a few hours at a time.

About 2.5, she was already vet verbal, it took about 5 months to train where she now just wears a pull-up to bed just in case.

My girls are 22m old and the bigger twin is showing interest in the potty. They both tell us when they are wet and have started trying to pull their diapers off at the slightest moisture! Its time I think!

My first was 15 months but he told me he was ready.
My second is 17 months and shes peeing on the toilet, but not pooping. Because she refuses to poop i refuse to push it this early. Im waiting until she's 2 to fully potty train.

Our oldest will be 3 in March. We’ve started the process of training but we don’t force it on her. She’s good about communicating with us but still doesn’t always go in the potty
