What is this?

I took my daughter to urgent care yesterday because she woke up with this all around her mouth. The past few weeks it’s only been on the ride side and has come and gone. The medical provider literally said “I have no idea what this is”. He prescribed her a steroid in the chance it was a food allergy. But he said if it’s bacterial or fungal the steroid will make it worse. He thinks it’s food since it comes and goes.

Never heard of impetigo but I don't know the exact english translation. That is a candida / yeast infection. The same kind that people can get around their genitals. It sounds worse than it is, they usually treat it with an creame or antibiotics. It is very common. Just be aware that is very contagious. So dont touch your eyes, or don't diaper change without washing your hands first. If tge doctor did not recognise this I am sorry but find another one.

The blisters have cleared up but it’s still red all around.

If the doctor thinks it’s good can they not do an allergy test to figure out what food is causing it? Since it’s fairly new what food has she recently started eating? What else has recently changed as far as products being used around her face? Soaps/lotions/toys/etc? I can’t believe the doc just said “idk what it is, here’s a steroid” without doing more investigating 🤨

It reminds me of impetigo.

This was my son. He had this rash that came and went and was there for about 8 or 9 months. We took him in to our doctors many times. It just looked chapped and irritated. So we tried aquaphor and chap stick and hydrocortisone and you name it.  There would be times it would be almost gone and there would be times it would be like this. 
Then one morning he woke up like this.

Full blown impetigo.  We took him to his pediatrician and were given antibiotics.  It took 2 rounds of the antibiotics to fully clear this rash. He has no scaring or any lasting affects from this. He just looked like a molting alien for a while.
