IUD STRING CAME OUT

I’m a fist time mom to a 6 month old and after having him I had the copper IUD placed at about 4 months. Also first time.

Last night while I was using the bathroom I noticed really stretchy discharge once I wiped and looked at it I noticed a hair like clump but after examining even further it was like hair but stronger (more thicker) and white. I’m having pretty bad cramps on and off. I never got these kind of cramps during my period but I always thought it was the first few month of IUD and it’s normal. Never went for a follow up appointment or never checked the strings (both things I was never told of only reading about now) and I’m a little nervous, what do you recommend?
