When did you potty train?

I am feeling so overwhelmed trying to potty train my 20 month old daughter currently. I’m 32 weeks pregnant. I am so overwhelmed. She definitely has successes, but we are still not progressing very quickly. I am a first time mom, so I just need some encouragement and hope. I feel like I am failing her.

Don't stress out and she might not be ready. Try a reward system and try to stay home and keep her in undies only. This way you can see her cues when she needs to potty. My daughter pulls at her undies . Also use one word, and only that word. Its going to take a lot of time l, accidents and patience. 
I have been potty training since 23 months and she is 2 years 4months  finally at the point where she only needs diapers in the car and when sleeping. 
We have hit a new mark where she will pee on herself ( 2x a week) if she is entertained with something(coloring , playing)

I first attempted when my son was 18 months old and I was 6 months pregnant, but he wasn't ready. 
I tried again at 2, but he still wasn't ready. 
I finally tried again right when he turned 3 and I was 3 months pregnant with my third baby. And he was finally ready, though he did have a regression around 3.5 that lasted about a month. 
My middle son is 2. He is autistic and I haven't even attempted it with him. I know he isn't even close to ready. So I will wait until he seems ready or try at 3 when I potty trained his brother.

My oldest wasnt until 3 and my daughter is 2 and she does great cant force just take day by day and go from there dont give up but if not interested I wouldnt push will make it longer to train her

20 months is pretty early, and you’re pretty pregnant, so I would expect it to take a while. I was told not to potty train 3 months before or after a big life event (such as a sibling being born) because it could stretch the process out and cause more frustration for everyone. My first potty trained at 3.5, a whole year after his baby brother was born. Two in diapers wasn’t all that bad, sure beat cleaning up pee/poop from the floors with a newborn.

20 months is still pretty young. There’s no reason to think you are failing her because she’s not fully potty trained early.

My son was somewhere between 2-2.5, I can’t remember exactly. We did the three day method. 
I first tried when he was about 20 months and he just wasn’t quite ready yet so we just put a hold on it and tried again later and it was successful the second time. 
So it may just be a little early, also as others have mentioned when the new babe comes she may go through a regression if you were to get her potty trained before hand. If it’s not working I would just try again after baby comes. Which I know sounds like it would be more overwhelming but if she’s not ready you can’t force it, you know? Good luck mama! ❤️

Our daycare recommended not training right before a new baby because they tend to regress and you have to basically start over. It happened with her own kids. Our son is 2.5 and no where close to being trained. He goes before and after sleeping and before bath, but that’s it. He doesn’t tell us when he has to go or anything like that. He also struggles with his pants and is so easily distracted that he forgets why he’s even in the bathroom in the first place.

If you start now expect regression once babies come. So bare that in mind. My first we started at 2.5 when our baby was a couple months old and it went fairly smoothly. We did diaper / pants free for a week and by the end of the week she was good for peeing. Took about a year for her to get pooping totally down though. Toilet learning is easy for some and hard for others. Depend on the toddler.

20 months is early! Don’t stress. Take a break if you or she need it. 
We tried the 3 day method with my son at just shy of 2.5 and while he did pretty good I was a wreck. So we’re pausing for a month and still encouraging potty use. But we’ll try again when I have more time off work.
