My daughter came home today with a jacket around her waist, period blood covering the back of her pants! She got her period in her last class. She was getting up to get some paper and her friend told her she had something on her pants and she noticed she bleed a little. She asked the teacher if she could go to the bathroom and her teacher said no. She explained she was on her period and her teacher said "We get it every month. It's nothing new so go sit down." So she spent an hour bleeding in her pants. Her friend gave her his hoodie to wrap around her waist. She has a heavy flo so she ended up bleeding through his hoodie by the end of class, and God bless this boy because he gave her his jacket he was wearing. After school ended she was gonna try to use her pad but her underwear was so full of blood she figured it was pointless. Sbe had to ride home on the bus like that. Her friend walked home in the cold without a jacket. I wish she had called me. I would have given him a ride home, the poor thing. When I found out what happened I practically tore down the principles door. He called the teacher in and that teacher was saying how there in class to learn and if she's gonna be a responsible young women she needs to handle that before class. I asked the teacher "Oh so you've never gotten your period at an inconvenient time." She didn't answer me and just continued talking about nonsense. We were in there half an hour until the principles just apologized and said they will try to be more mindful of her needs but she also has to be mindful of the teachers time. My daughter was asking to use that bathroom so I don't understand how she wasn't being mindful of the teachers time. I can't believe grown adults are so stupid. I called her friends mom to thank her son and said I would wash his jackets and pick him up for school tomorrow with my daughter so he won't walk in the cold. You would think a female would understand another teenage girls needs!
