Cultural appropriation?

I am a black woman and I was wondering if getting henna is cultural appropriation? I do not want to offend anyone! Please only answer if henna is part of your culture.

I grew up using henna because I grew up around Muslim people who used it a lot. 
With anything surrounding cultures, just make sure you do your research on understanding the purposes and uses, and preferably buy your henna from people from that actual culture so you are also helping that community.

i honestly don’t know. i personally don’t take offence to women wearing henna if they’re not from my culture, however, i think it’s wrong to wear it because it’s trendy. one needs to understand the culture and purpose behind it before wearing it. if you want to wear it as culture appreciation, then go for it. just make sure to go to a reputable henna artist and ensure that you know the meaning behind it and why women get it.

It can be. I stay away from Jenna because it’s used for very different reasons than just to look cool. I see people get it and they don’t understand the meaning or purpose of it. Educate yourself on its history and make a determination on if you should get it after that.

Not from that specific culture, but from one that gets frequently “appropriated from”, if day just get it! It’s your body and you are not “hating” on that culture you are embracing it and partaking in it because you are interested in it and find beauty in it! I always want others to be interested in my culture and celebrate it and it’s many beautiful aspects , so I really hate the whole concept of “Cultural appropriation”. As long as you are not doing it to show disrespect or hate towards them or the culture ( and you partake tastefully and maybe do some research) I would say you should go for it and have fun!💕 life is too short to constantly worry if you are “offending” strangers, somewhere there is someone who will be offended by anything you do- it can’t rule your life so just make sure you do it from s place of kindness and common sense
