Semi permanent hair dye ?

Question

So I want to dye my hair purple like this..im gonna go to a pro but I'm gonna wait till after the holidays.
Ive never lightened my hair before so im kinda nervous about it. (My hair is naturally thirsty and needs hydration, im starting hair masks and argon oil this week. So im scared its already to unhealthy, im gonna cut it too)

ANYWAY heres my question about semi-perminent..i wanna get some, just to see if i even like having colored hair. 
But will doing this make my hair more difficult to lighten than virgin hair? How much? By a lot or only a little more difficult?  If it does make it difficult should i not do it? But if i do...should i get purple or blue ? (Ik blue is difficult)

With how dark your hair is I can’t imagine any semi permanent dye showing up on your hair without lightening it first. That being said purple would be easier to get out if it were a red based purple otherwise it would fade to blue and just be as difficult to get out. If you want that light pink I personally wouldn’t do any dyeing until then.

I do recommend going to the salon.. but if your going to do this at home 
You need to lighten your  hair first. Needs to be lifted to a pale yellow. 30vol with quick blue for max 45 min should do the trick. If you have access to olaplex add that to your mixture.  
For the purple use ion color brilliance in lavender to add the color. 
I should note if you have any box die in your hair right now it’s going to be a mess you can’t undo. Don’t do it.

I did a similar thing and my hair isn’t as dark as yours... I had to have several sessions of lifting with bleach and then the semi permanent put on.  They only really last if you can use a toner in between appointments... BUT... It does look amazing!! Just don’t be too disappointed if it’s more subtle than you’re hoping for.
