Does it make sense to put my 1 year old on the potty *after* she peed on the floor?
So my LO has never been much of a communicator, so I tried to focus more on giving her pottytunities. This worked fairly well until she started being able to get up. Now I’ve been dealing with a potty strike for months. She flatly refused to sit on the potty, stood up and walked away immediately. I know she kept some awareness for her elimination though, because she likes to stand up to pee and poop.
Now it seems she’s ok to sit on the potty again, but she seems to have lost the connection with elimination. She just sits there and plays and goes away. When she’s naked I typically catch a signal about a second before she pees on the floor so I’m ready to wipe it off.
Now my question is - does it make sense to put her on the potty right after she pees, so that she associates it again? I keep cueing but it seems a bit useless.
Any help would be appreciated, I’m getting a bit frustrated here!
