Do you think Mail-In Baby Showers are rude without a Zoom Call?

I would plan to FaceTime each gift giver and open individually. I hate the idea of a virtual baby shower.. we want to be safe during COVID or we would have an in-person shower. 😢

I get your concern that older family members/friends might want to see you open gifts (they tend to be the ones who want to see that at a shower too), but most of the time people are happy to send a new baby a gift for the sake of sending it. If you want to FaceTime people when you’ve opened their gifts, I’m sure they’d love that. But I’ve found that zoom showers are a bit awkward anyways, so by not doing that, you’re saving people from dealing with the tech side of it and having to carve out an hour or two to sit in front of a computer.

Hi! I was planning to do the same. “Mail in” invites with no zoom call. During these times, I want to believe people are understanding, and will be grateful they don’t have to attend (or decline to attend) a small shower because they aren’t comfortable. I also live in Massachusetts where we have been taking corona virus very seriously. Anyone who would be invited to my ‘normal’ shower knows I’d have an in person one if I could. I plan to mail out thank you’s as I receive the gifts in the mail so they know right away I got them.

I think your plan of individual calls is lovely. I think a mail-in with no contact at all would rub me the wrong way, but no need really for a big group call that can definitely be awkward if not we’ll planned!

I don’t think it’s RUDE some people might expect you to do a call but really you don’t need to! My cousin did mail-in w no call and it was fine she just posted a picture of the gifts and tagged us saying thank you! I’ve seen some people just make a Live on social media of them opening the gifts and say thanks! If you ask me when I give a gift
I’m not expecting ANYTHING in return I just hope the person loves it! Do what is convenient to you, don’t add stress to yourself trying to please others.
