Falling for my two Lovers Part 4.2

He answered on the first ring. “I was wondering if you were going to call tonight, darlin’.” He chimed. “It’s pretty late, why aren’t you asleep?”

“I need to talk to you and Jaxx” I retried to say it without slurring, but it sounded more like “jrndhdhhdskgshdi Jaxxxxxx”

Leon laughed, but I heard the confusion and concern in his voice. “You been drinking baby?”

This induced a stab of irritation. “I can do whatever the *hiccup* I please, youre not the boss of me! Just call Jaxx.” I paused. “please...”

I could tell he was even more worried and confused now. “Okay okay darlin’ I’ll dial him in, just drink some water ok?”

“Fine.” I took three more big gulps of my liquor. Close enough.

Jaxx also picked up on the first ring. “Leon? What’s up? You heard from Kitten?”

Leon chuckled nervously “actually she’s on the line with us. Says she’s got something to tell us.”

“Yes I do.” I half slurred and half mumbled.

“Kitten have you been drinking?” Jaxx asked.

“Don’t go there, man.” Leon warned.

“I can’t do this anymore.” I said.

They didn’t understand me. “What?” They both said.

I could feel the pain breaking through my drunken haze. So much for the power of liquid courage...

I polished off the rest of the liquor, knowing damn well I’d probably feel like death tomorrow anyway. “I can’t do this anymore.” I said again.

They both sat silently for a second.

I thought they understood but...

“I’m lost.” Said Leon.

“Me too.” Said Jaxx.

Fuck!

“What can’t you do anymore darlin?” Asked Leon.

“Talk to us—“ Jaxx started to interject.

I snapped. “This!!!” I shouted. “I can’t do This anymore! You’re both perfect but I can’t do it I don’t want to think about anything, you don’t know and I just can’t—-“

Nothing I was saying was making Any sense and I knew it, somewhere deep down in my drunken state. But I didn’t want to tell them that I was in love with either of them, let alone both of them. They’d probably laugh at me.

“And don’t you laugh at me!” I yelled, out of context.

“Woah woah woah!” Leon tried to get me to pause long enough for them to respond. “Nobody is laughing at you, calm down.”

“Kitten, are you trying to say you’re done with this?” Jaxx’s voice was flat, steady, and unfeeling. Perfect. I was right.

After I sat silent for too long Leon spoke up, his voice just as flat. “Is that what you’re saying kitten?”

Great. Neither one cared, and I knew I shouldn’t either.

“Yes.” I hiccuped “that’s what I’m saying.”

“Care to explain why?” Leon asked.

“I thought we had a good thing going. We enjoy spending time with you.” Jaxx said calmly.

Again I sat too long without saying anything.

“Well?” Snapped Leon.

I could feel myself breaking down. “I just can’t. I’m sorry... thank you both for everything... Goodbye.” I heard them protesting as I hung up the phone.

After it was done I didn’t feel better, I didn’t feel worse. I felt.. nothing.

I don’t know how long I sat there staring into darkness, but eventually sleep came and pulled me under.

I prayed never to resurface.
