What have I done wrong...

Question

My son has the WORST temperament.
He just shouts and screams and bites things the instant he's unhappy or can't do something. I can't even take him to the park cos he kicks off... What baby doesn't like the Park?
Is this just him? Have I caused this?

No you haven't caused it and he is not a bad or naughty child. He is upset about something and is unable to communicate it in any other way yet. This may settle down when he acquires more language.
My daughter has a similar temperament. I've been told she is 'feisty' since she was 4 months old. I did this parenting course called 'circle of security' and it changed everything for me. I learned about 'time-in'. Which means when your child is having a difficult time you remove them from the situation, give them a big hug and help them soothe until they settle. They learn that you are there for them, that their feelings are important and understood by you, and over time they learn to regulate their emotions. Think about a time when you were upset about something and told someone else about it. Did it help more when the person told you to just get over it, or did it help more when someone said they understand how you feel?
Anyway too much to explain here. But if you are interested you can google it. You can read the book called 'raising a secure child' which is about the circle of security concept. Honestly changed my whole relationship with my child for the better and I'm a much happier parent now because my child is so much easier to handle!

At this age they are starting to understand if I act like this I get this result so if u have always given him what he wants when he cry’s for it and now he knows that’s how to get his way .
