My parents have a French bulldog that attacked my son and bit his face when he was 18mos (he still has a scar at 4) he’s also skinned a cats face and killed it, and attacked my dog twice by biting his face. The dogs always been “off” I’m an animal lover and you can just tell when a screw is loose. He’s never respected space, always been pushy and would bulldoze people with zero regard. Well, I struggled setting this boundary with my parents. My mom went off on me, I held my ground because he kept getting let out when we were over and lunged at my son again the last time we were there. Well my dad called and told me he’s gone because he bit my dad in the face when he went to say hi to my mom, to the point he thought he didn’t have a nose. So both validation that my intuition was 100% correct that this dog was extremely aggressive and a threat to my children’s safety, and also feels like progress with my dad to have even told me that and been respectful about it as he and I are not on good terms.

All to say TRUST. YOUR. GUT!!! I’m learning I actually have a good gut instinct, it’s my overthinking that causes me problems! Thank God I listened on this one and it wasn’t my 15 month old or 4 year old....
