Question for mommas that had a membrane sweep!?

How do I know if it’s working? I just got mine done today. Last pregnancy it worked for me but I didn’t think much of it because I didn’t even know what it was. I know it doesn’t always work but it’s just a thought that came to me because after I left the clinic, my mucus plug came out... does that mean it’s working?

The mucus plug is likely from the sweep itself. Also, it’s very common to have cramping and even light spotting.
I’m unfortunately one of those women it didn’t work for. With my first son I literally had a sweep done at 37, 38, & 39 weeks and he came at 40+1, a full week after the third sweep. After each one I had spotting, chunks of the plug, and cramping. 
The way you know it has worked is when you know you’re in labor. Consistent contractions picking up in intensity and getting closer and closer together or possibly your water breaking.

Your water will break or you will get contractions. It worked for my first two kids. For my first I got it done at 39 weeks went home, relaxed a bit, had sex, took a shower. When I got out of the shower I realized I was having contractions. I timed them and they were 5mims apart! But not even that intense. Was 4cm when I got to the hospital had him the next day at 4:06pm
My second is actually crazy 😂 I went in got the membrane sweep at 39 weeks then they decided to measure my stomach, notice I was measuring a couple weeks behind and wanted an ultrasound just in case. The only time they could get me in was an hour from then. I went to the store got a couple things, went back for my ultrasound and the lady asked me to wait and not to leave afterward. She must’ve saw something because they hooked me to the machine for seeing contractions and baby’s heart rate. I realized I was having some minor contractions but they were regular. Doc came in said I’m in labor and sent me to labor and delivery 😂 had my daughter that night!

I obviously lost mucus plug and started contracting. It got me from 2 or 3 cm dilated to 5.5 to 6 but my cervix didn't thin out fast enough. Ended up getting pitocin to get my last baby here. I would say it definitely jump started everything
