They gave me another incision?

Question

I had my third Caesarian almost 3 weeks ago and just noticed that the doctor didn’t use my incision from my previous births. He gave me a new one above my old scar. Is this normal?  No one said anything to me about a new incision and it kind of upset me to see.

I’ve had three and two were on top of each other but the last was above due to scar tissue. My doctor said if there’s a lot of scarring they move up.

They told me they'd cut in the same spot but they ended up cutting above the first incision. It doesn't bother me too much. I call one the Noelle scar and the other the Abigail scar (each of my kids).

I had two and they just used the same incision site and just cut out the old scar. That’s interesting. I’m going to have a third c section. I’m going to have to ask about this 🤔

I’ve heard about this before a couple times when I worked at an OBGYN office (years ago so can’t remember 100%) What I usually heard was that they have to do a new incision to decrease chance of infection and tissue I guess scarring. I’ve had 2 CS so far, same incision and dr mentioned I’d have a new one if I have the 2 more I plan to have 😬 
This is something you should talk to your dr about, ask why.
