Family law attorney cost for sole custody?? Thanks for replys

Roughly how much is a private family law attorney for getting sole custody of my boy? Legal aid in my county aren't taking cases unless I'm being sued for custody. His dad is unfit, and I can prove it.

It depends on where you live and the circumstances. I worked as a paralegal for a family law attorney for several years prior to having our second baby and deciding to be a stay at home mom. The attorney I worked for billed at $200/hour for his office time, court time was billed at $250/hour, and paralegal time was $100/hour. His standard retainer for child custody matters was $2500 - so that’s what he asked to be paid up front to begin working on the case and then all time would get charged against that $2500. If the case was resolved quickly, the client would get a refund of any unused funds. If it dragged on for awhile, they’d end up with a bill once it was settled on top of the $2500 retainer. That final bill could usually be handled through payments. That part is pretty standard practice, just explaining because there are people who are unsure how retainers work.
Most attorneys offer free consultations - so your best bet is to research good ones in your area and then see if consultations are free. If so, make sure to make a list of questions you want to ask them. And be sure to include their attorney fees and retainer on your list of questions.
