Divorced with child - married or maiden name?

I’m getting divorced, and I have a 2 year old. I’m struggling to decide whether to keep my married name (same as my son’s last name) or to go back to my maiden name. Any mamas have any advice?!

I kept my married name. Having gotten married young, most of my professional stuff was in my married name. I also wanted to keep my married name because I didn’t want to have a different name from my kids.

I kept my ex husbands last name.  It's my kids name, and it's easier for people to know that I'm their mom on paperwork, at school etc.

Good question. I’m on the fence about that too. I mostly want to keep it for my kids and because I’m too lazy to go change it on my DL, my SS card, passport, bank accounts etc

My kids are the main reason why I am keeping my married name (I also like it more than my maiden). My mother went back to her maiden when my parents split and it was always so awkward having a different name than my parent. Even if I am ever stupid enough to ever get married again I will keep my last name cause that is my kids' name.
