Nursery rocking chair

Question

Hello Ladies! 
I’ll get straight to the point... my husband has a rocking chair that has sentimental value to him that he would like me to use in the nursery. It has no cushion or anything, it’s made out of wood. Although I would like a more modern comfortable chair, I just feel that I wooden chair is so uncomfortable after sitting in it for a while. 
So I would like others opinion, should I use the wooden chair and put a cushion on it or get a modern nursery chair such as a glider or rocker??

So I would go with the glider (not this one per say, just a glider in general). I spent so much time rocking and breastfeeding in our glider rocker. It rocks easier than a traditional rocking chair.  Comfort is totally key with late night/all night feeding sessions.
That being said, absolutely keep the sentimental chair and put it in the living room or something.

Definitely a soft one for the nursery since you may have to sleep in it sometimes, but that won’t be the only place you will want to rock baby, so maybe put the wooden one in the living room. We had one from my mom that we kept in our living room and it came in handy. Could paint it to match your decor.

You could look into having a seat and back cushion made for the chair, then it would be comfortable and still honor your husband’s wish to include the chair in the nursery.
I know a lot of parents say that their glider was a good purchase, but in my case, it was a waste. I rarely sat in mine. I really didn’t want to be by myself in the baby’s room most of the time, I preferred to be in the living room, on the couch, comfy and in the center of things. I eventually moved the glider to the living room, but still didn’t find it to be my preferred nursing spot.

We bought a new glider for the nursery but I find myself using the rocking chair in our living room alot more during the day.  Its also nice to be able to rock your baby while visiting with company, which you don't really do in a nursery.

I have 2 chairs. I bought a lazy boy rocker recliner for the first floor/living room(best investment)  since we spend the most time downstairs and others babysitting it makes sense for us. I also sleep in it quite a bit during cranky nights. I wasn’t planning on having one in the nursery and just feeding in bed but that didn’t even last a week. I have the wooden rocking chair that my mom bought when I was a baby in the nursery now and made it cozy with a 
thick blanket over it. 
If the chair means something to your husband incorporate it somewhere in the house but also make sure you have somewhere super comfortable for you

I have this one & I absolutely love it! I nursed my 10 month old from the beginning & even before his arrival, I would snuggle with my then 1 year old.

I voted for the wooden chair, but I meant to vote for the modern padded one. Comfort is essential for a nursery chair as you could potentially spend many hours/nights on it. My nursery chair had nice padded arm rests and often times I would use them as a support for my son’s head. Unfortunately practicality wins over sentimental value in this situation.

I’m very petite and have tried the classic glider style rockers. They just don’t fit my body. My mother in law gave me the rocking chair she used. It’s nice, very sturdy, and comfortable (doesn’t need a cushion even) but it is meant for someone taller and with longer legs. My husband’s aunts found one that is the perfect size for me. I used a chair cushion with it and got an angled foot rest. 
I suggest going with what you are most comfortable in and fits your body best because you will be using it the most.

I absolutely despised the weak I nursed with my mom’s old rocking chair she used for my brother and I. I was so uncomfortable. 
If he really wants the old rocker I would figure out another place to put it but I would also have a comfortable to you chair for nursing and rocking.
