Can my first job be working at clothes or shoe store at 16 or 17?

My first job was at an ice cream shoppe over a summer when I was 16. Then when school resumed I was a receptionist at a hair salon on Saturday’s only. You can apply anywhere that doesn’t show an 18+ restriction which many places don’t have. I think at 17 I got a job at a veterinarian working as a kennel assistant since they boarded pets there.

Yeah that’s fine. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to work at a certain place. My first job was retail just because I didn’t want to work around food.
