Owlet Smart Sock

Question

Has anyone used this? I’ve worked with families who have lots babies to SIDS so I am super paranoid for our soon-to-be baby. Does the sock help and does it relieve any of that worry or add to it??

We were going to buy the sock, but apparently, it can burn the skin on baby's feet 😬. 
We were horrified when we saw the reviews on Amazon with those poor little babies with burn marks. 
The Nanit does the same thing, but instead of tracking heart rate, it watches breathing and sets off alarms if the baby stops at any point. It also does a whole bunch of other cool stuff.

My husband and I bought the Owlet 2 on Black Friday when it was marked down by $100 in 2019, and we used it every night up until my daughter was 11 months old. I saw that they released an Owlet 3 that is supposed to have addressed some of the issues (like the fit). We only had 2 false alarms due to the fact that we needed to move our daughter up a sock size. I slept wo much better with my daughter wearing the Owlet than I ever would have without it.
I do not recommend the Owlet camera, though. There are better quality ones that cost less out there.

I have this one and and my has it given me such a relief. My daughter is 6 weeks away old and I definitely sleep so much better. Being a 1st time mom I was paranoid and this has given my boyfriend and I a sense of comfort. My daughter wears it for about 10hrs through the night and no burn marks to report on her foot. I think they fixed the issues people we’re complaining about with the previos version.

I don’t have owlet so I can’t comment on that, but I love my Nanit camera. It’s a swaddle or chest strap as opposed to the sock like owlet. I preferred that since many babies love kicking things off their feet. Now that my son is here, I’m glad I made that choice since socks never stay on him.

We just bought the miku. It can measure breathing without any wearables! Baby isn’t here yet but I tested it on myself lying under the camera and it’s pretty incredible. I got the alarm to sound by holding my breath and being absolutely still.

We just have the sock and have had zero issues with burns. Like some of the reviews said. It literally saved us one night when my boy was about 7mo old and he rolled over and was faced down and his oxygen dropped. It was scary but we were thankful for the owlet.
