Toddler not sleeping anymore ?

Out of nowhere my 2 and a half year old who uses to be in bed by 8pm sharp with no issues is suddenly fighting me at bed time and when I out him down he goes down quiet but within 5 minutes he stands up and is screaming IM ALL DONE I WANT MOMMY and I kay him back down give him a kiss and he's screaming again or he will way there quiet but awake kicking around and won't sleep. 
He takes a 2 hour nap daily still but he's just tired for it and his doctor said it was normal still at his age so idk what is going on with bed time . We have a very routine bed time as well.  Any tips for me ?  I just don't want him to be crying :( plus this is the only time I get all day to get anything done is from 8 to 10 because I also work from home with him so I can only shower and do housework at night .

Just after my son turned 2 he started fighting bedtime.  He had never fought bedtime before.  Then within a few days he was fighting his nap.  So we did quiet time instead.  Those nights he was asleep within a minute.  Now he is almost 28 months old and rarely naps and sleeps the best he ever has at night.  It took a couple weeks of trying the quiet time instead of naps.  He was tired but didn’t fall asleep.  I hoped he would go back to napping everyday.  But he hasn’t.  So I think this is our new normal.  So, you might benefit from having your toddler take a shorter nap.

It’s probably just a phase. My daughter started really fighting me with bedtime for a little bit. But I just stayed firm with her. I told her you get 3 books and then it’s time for bed. In between each book I warned her “ok only 2 more books,” “ok only 1 more book,” “this is the last book, do you understand?” I didn’t let her have a 4th book. It only took a few days and she got it. She still tries to get more books, but she doesn’t throw a fit when she doesn’t get it.

Yup. Our son used to be amazing at going to bed. We’d read a book, he’d lay down, we’d leave, and he’d put himself to sleep. Now at 2.5, bedtime is a horrid battle and usually ends up with me pissed off or crying because I have no patience for it. He will go through all the bedtime routine steps like a champ and then as soon as it’s time to actually get into bed, he turns into a little shit and refuses to cooperate at all. So we just walk out and shut his door. I’m not humoring that behavior. He cries and after about a minute of that, we go back in and ask if he’s ready to follow directions like a big kid. Usually he says “yes” and we can finish the routine. Sometimes he’s still a jerk, so we leave again. Even when he does go to bed nicely, he gets out of bed after a few min, flips on his light, and decides to read instead. So we have to deal with putting him back into bed a bunch of times. Oh and he doesn’t sleep through the night anymore either. He wakes up crying usually 2-3 times but sometimes as many as 8. That combined with our 5mo old and we are beyond burnt out.

Kids go through sleep cycles, just as adults do. I know all four of my sisters kids did not.  She said that they eventually all grew out of it. It just took time.

What kind of bed is he in? Idk why but when we moved our son to a big bed everything changed. It’s like he wanted to think he had a level of independence. He’s never gotten out of bed either! We had tons of screaming and crying starting around 2 in the crib. But irk really. Was it the bed transition or was it just a phase 🤷🏻‍♀️
