Hello ummm I wanted to know someone’s stories to how they knew they had pcos. I recently went to the doctor they told me I might have pcos due to my irregular periods and gaining weight. I’m a bit afraid of the situation I’ve had my period for a whole month now

I’m 23 and I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago, but I’ve been showing symptoms since I was 11. My symptoms include: excruciatingly painful cramps, irregular periods, weight gain, bloating, hair loss, and acne. My doctor had me start taking birth control and metformin. I took the pill before and had bad experiences with it like anxiety and weight gain but this time has been completely different! My periods are regular, my acne cleared up, my hair stopped falling out as much, and I’ve actually been able to lose weight. I really resisted going on the pill because for one thing I’m not one to like taking medications of any kind, not even advil. And also, I had bad experiences on the pill before. But I guess I was just on the wrong one, it can take a few tries to get it right. So anyway I recommend talking to your doctor about your options. Also another thing to keep in mind is that PCOS tends to cause insulin resistance which is one reason why women may gain or hold on to weight. A good diet is one important tool when dealing with PCOS.
