Sydney as name for baby boy? Thoughts?

Husband wants to name our baby boy Sydney, but I am having second thoughts because it might cause confusion in the future. Thinking of adding a second name that sounds masculine but starts with "R". Any thoughts or comments will be highly appreciated. I am due to deliver this coming March 2021. Thank you very much ❤️

I know a couple of guys names Sidney, I like it as a boys name. Sidney Ryan, Sidney Richard, Sidney Ramon

I think Sidney (with an “I”) is traditionally a male name. Only recently has Sydney (with a “Y”) popped up as a girls name (and by recently I mean our generation not like a few years 🤪).  But I think adult “sidneys” in our parents/ grandparents generations were more likely to go by Sid. 
I like the name but would probably choose the more traditional male spelling with the “I”. And maybe only go with it if you’re ok with him to wanting to go by Sid if kids give him a hard time at school.

I like Sydney as a boys name and I know a few male Sydney’s. Add a strong middle name and i can’t see a problem with it ☺️ x

no offense but it’s kind of “feminine” for my liking. i would think it’s a girl not a boy being called if i were to hear that name in school or wherever else. maybe something you guys need to consider. at the end of the day it’s your child and you name him what you want but just think about everything! :)

I think the boys ways to spell it is Sidney, like Sidney Crosby. I’m in Canada though, and he is very popular. With a Y it is more feminine to me

I follow a food blogger on IG, she has a baby named Sidney! I love it with the “i” instead of a “y” for a boy. If you went that route I think it could help eliminate some confusion.

I definitely think of Sidney as unisex but do agree the second “y” tends to be more feminine so I would go for the “i” spelling personally. I think giving him the masculine middle name also helps clear up confusion. I think if you guys both like it then you should go for it!
