Worried about the risks? IVF and ICSI

Hi, I just finished the IVF class and paperwork and now I’m having a lot of anxiety about the possible risks to me and to the baby I might conceive from IVF and ICSI. Have any of you had these same worries? Any thoughts or insight on this. I’m starting to second guess and really worry. I’m going to bring all of this up at my appointment next Friday but posted here because I can’t stop thinking and worrying about it. Support and information would be greatly appreciated.

The risks are very so minor.   It’s similar to having to sign off on possible death for a root canal.     They have to list everything to cover themselves

They make it sound nerve wrecking when signing those papers but it’s so rare. If you want peace of mind you can always ask your clinic if anything bad has happened to one of their patients or stats on issues that could arise. I’m sure it’s minimal or none. 
My pregnancy was very healthy via IVF. I had a ton of nausea but that was just a pregnancy thing. We got more ultrasounds due to it being an IVF pregnancy so I LOVED seeing my son every other week. It was so exciting. They did refer me to a specialist around 20 weeks just to make sure he was healthy and they did an echocardiogram on him - he passed and we were no longer considered high risk. 
I gave birth to a big 9 pound 8 ounce boy. He is now 15 weeks old and 18 pounds. He isn’t overweight - 95% on weight and 98% on height. Just a big boy like his dad! IVF was worth every single shot and penny to have my little man.

I think the paperwork makes it more scary than it actually is. Try to look at it from the different angle. Once you start your IVF you will be monitored by professional team on almost daily basis . 
If IVF is your only option, don’t look back and don’t beat yourself up ! 
Also when you get the positive tests, you will be seen far early than by doctors as if you would conceive naturally. 
Risks are everywhere, try to take it easy, prepare for the journey :) and take one step at the time. And one day at the time

I can relate to u dear. Me and hubby started this journey two months back and almost there to start our IVF cycle in next month. Anxiety and worry will keep bouncing back but stay strong and hopeful. Sending prayers your way 💖💜

Never had a class, wasn’t told there were any risks— never worried about it. Are you referring to cancer? Because that risk actually isn’t high and isn’t definitely correlated with IVF.

Just being pregnant is risky. The whole thing comes with risks. No risk, no reward. It’s about deciding if the reward is worth the risk. I wasn’t that worried about them because I want to be pregnant so badly and it is unlikely to happen naturally now. I’ve gone through my egg retrieval and one fet now.

We had no motility or sperm issues so we skipped the ICSI
